The opening ceremony, held on the evening of October 29 in Kempinski Dead Sea, featured a welcome speech by Eng. Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian, who expressed Royal Jordanian's pride in hosting this significant event. Majali stated, "Hosting the AACO Annual General Meeting here in Jordan, at the heart of the Dead Sea, carries great symbolism. This unique location, as the lowest inhabited point on earth, embodies Jordan's resilience in overcoming challenges and reaching new heights of success. The ongoing support from His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Jordanian government over the years has elevated Royal Jordanian as a key player in the aviation industry and solidified Jordan’s position as a bridge between East and West.” Majali extended his gratitude to H.E. Eng. Wesam Tahtamoni, Minister of Transport, for attending on behalf of His Majesty, underlining her presence as a testament to the Jordanian government’s steadfast support for the aviation sector. He also thanked H.E. Lina Annab, Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Mohannad Shehadeh, Minister of Economic Affairs, for their attendance, highlighting their commitment to strengthening Jordan's tourism and economic sectors.
Majali also acknowledged the contributions of supporting companies and praised the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority for sponsoring the excursion to Petra. He emphasized the importance of these partnerships in the success of this major event.
The opening ceremony also included a speech by AACO Secretary General, Mr. Abdul Wahab Teffaha, who expressed his deep gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein for his patronage of the AGM and thanked H.E. Eng. Wesam Tahtamoni, Minister of Transport, for representing His Majesty at the event. Teffaha expressed his appreciation for her role in supporting the event, underscoring the Jordanian government’s dedication to bolstering the regional aviation sector and advancing the aviation industry.
The AGM's working sessions will take place on October 30 in Kempinski Hotel Dead Sea. These sessions will honor H.E. Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, followed by a report from the AACO Secretary General on the state of the industry and a speech by Mr. Mohamad Rahma, Director of ICAO’s Air Transport Bureau, marking the 80th anniversary of the Chicago Convention.
The event will conclude with the Arab Aviation Summit, where a panel of distinguished speakers, including Eng. Samer Majali, will discuss key industry issues, followed by a closed session for AACO members to address administrative, financial, and strategic matters.
