Board Members

H.E. Eng. Said Samih Darwazah | Chairman of the Board

Said Darwazeh has chaired the Royal Jordanian Board of Directors since June 21, 2016, after he was appointed a representative of the Government Shareholdings' Management Company in RJ's Board of Directors on June 19, 2016.

Said Darwazeh is currently the CEO and Chairman of Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC. Between 2003 and 2006, he was the Minister of Health, Jordan.

He is also the Chairman of the Board of the Queen Rania Foundation, which focuses primarily on providing youth with learning opportunities and equipping them with the necessary tools for success such as ICT in education and online learning opportunities.

He is a board member of the Central Bank of Jordan and a member of the Board of Trustees at Babson College in the USA, and the American University of Beirut (AUB), where he also co-founded the Samih Darwazah Center for Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship.

Said Darwazeh has a B.Sc. degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University in the USA and an MBA from INSEAD, France.

H.E. Eng. Bassem Khalil AlSalem | Member

Mr. Bassem Al-Salem currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Capital Bank which he co-founded in 1995.Al-Salem's role as a chairman provides diverse experience in creating business value strategically, operationally and financially.

He also currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King's Academy in Jordan. Prior to that, he founded and managed a number of companies in Jordan, mainly in the industrial sector. Al-Salem also has an extensive record of public service that spans over 12 years starting as a Member of the Board of the Central Bank of Jordan in the year 2000 and as the Minister of Labor, Minister of Finance, and a Senator in the Upper House of the Jordanian Parliament.

Today, Al-Salem continues to serve on the boards of several organizations in the private and public sectors such as Queen Rania Foundation and University of Jordan. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College – UK

 

H.E. Dr. Abdelhakim Shibli | Member

Dr. Shibli started his professional path at the Central Bank of Jordan as an economist for the period 1991-2004. In 2002 worked also as a part-time lecturer in the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Jordan, Department of Economics, then moved to the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation for the period 2004 - 2007 as an economic advisor to oversee a comprehensive risk analysis system that anticipate future economic risk and recommend mitigation policies. Dr. Shibli was seconded to work at the Prime Ministry for the period 2007 to 2010, as an economist at the Millennium Challenge Unit, then moved to the Ministry of Finance to chair the Directorate of Studies and Economic Policies as a Director for the period 2010-2018. 

Dr. Shibli's appointment as the Secretary General of Ministry of Finance on 30/4/2018. Before then, H.E took part in the several Governmental committees, worked as core economic team at Ministry of Finance and on IMF program, the World Bank and the Arab Monetary Fund. Dr. Shibli Main works in the economic and financial policy formulation and the implementation of important national and international programs such as the Economic and Social Reform initiative, the Financial Reform Program, the Modernization of Financial Management and the Revision Program with the IMF. 

Dr. Shibli represented the Ministry of Finance in several institutions and companies in which the Government of Jordan have shares as a board member of directors, official committees.

Dr. Abdelhakim Shibli holds a Ph.D. in Economics specializing in macroeconomics and fiscal policy, from Leeds University Business School\ UK.

Mr. Mohammad Ali Bdeir | Member

With a background in management, Mr. Bdeir was appointed to Royal Jordanian's Board of Directors in 2008. He is the current General Manager of Best Dimension Investment Co., and a Director of the General Mining Co., and a former board member of Jordan Investment Board. He received a BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University (USA), and an MS in Engineering Management from the American University of Beirut.

Mr. Saeed Abdullah Shanan | Member

Mr. Shanan currently holds the post of Head of Operations & Administrative Affairs Department at Social Security Corporation / Social Security Investment Fund, prior to this post Mr. Shanan has served as Head Of The Investment Encouragement Unit / Income Tax Department 1994-2003, Auditing and Finance Manager in private sector 1992-1994, Accounting and current accounts in Banking sector / Saudi Arabia 1989-1991.

He was Board Member in :  Jordan Phosphate Mines Co., Jordan Cement Factories/ Lafarge, Jordan Petroleum Refinery Co., Jordan Duty Free Shops Company . Arab Bank . Bank al Etihad, and Vice Chairman & Board Member in The South Dead Sea Development Specialized Resort Co. Mr. Shanan holds MBA degree in Finance from University of Jordan,  B.Sc. degree in (Major: Accounting, Minor: Business Administration) from University of Jordan,  CPM Certificate Project Manager from (IAPPM) International Association of Project and Program Management / USA. “Approved Mentor” for The King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency on, Jun 26th 2008 .

Mr. Michael Nazzal | Member

Mr. Michael Nazzal is the Chairman for the Dead Sea Hotels since 1990, chairman for the MENA Hotels from 1990 till Present, chairman for the Jordan Hotel Association since 1988, and chairman for the Federation of Tourism Associations from 2004 till Present.
Mr. Michael is the vice chairman and board member for the Jordan Tourism Board since 2004, and the founder and member of the Jordanian Applied University board of trustees from 1996 till Present. , director of food services for Royal Jordanian from 1980 till 1982
Mr. Michael Nazzal was a member of the 25th house of Senate
Mr. Nazzal has a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management – Switzerland .

Mr. Nizar Fahim Khoury | Member

    Mr. Khoury worked with Middle East Airlines since 1974 to retirement in August 2017.

    Started in the Planning & Economics Department moved later to the Commercial Department and was appointed Vice-President Commercial.

    From 2001, appointed Head of the Commercial Division responsible for the following Departments:  Sales & Distribution, Revenue Management,  Marketing,  Costumer Service, Loyalty Programs, Commercial Agreements, Civil Aviation

    Mr. Khoury holds a BA Economics, American University of Beirut, Lebanon, Course requirements completed for MA Economics at the American University of Beirut.

Malek Salameh Habashneh | Member

  • Has a bachelor and masters degree in management and military science.
  • Has taken courses in England and the USA .
  • He joined the Royal Jordanian Air Force as a fighter pilot in 1974.
  • Experience during service at the royal Jordanian Air Force:

-Aviation instructor/flight training squadron in England/Iraq.

-Base commander.

-Assistant/military (Air/Naval)Attaché-London.

-Manager of training Directorate.

-Manager of operational Directorate.

-Commander’s assistant of Air operations and training.

-Commander of the Royal Jordanian Air Force in 2010 until 2013.
