St John Baptist Orthodox Church
Soak in the Serene Ambiance
The location along the Jordan River where John the Baptist baptized Jesus has been a focal point for the construction of numerous churches across centuries. Among these, the most recent addition in 2003 is the St. John the Baptist Church, a Greek Orthodox Church. Additional benefactors have contributed enhancements like the intricate interior mosaic floors and the gilding of the dome. Despite its modest size in sandstone, the church boasts harmonious proportions. Inside, vibrant Byzantine-Greek frescoes adorn the walls, while the floors feature charming mosaic patterns crafted in the ancient Greek and Roman opus style. Adjacent to the church, several ongoing construction sites hint at future Armenian Christian and Catholic churches, further enriching the sacred landscape
