Amman, Feb. 26, 2020 -- Royal Jordanian Airlines has suspended its Amman-Rome flights, starting from today (Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020) until further notice.
At this stage, RJ is also consolidating several flights from Amman to its stations in the Far East, bringing the average of cancellations of weekly Asian operations to up to 50%.
RJ President/CEO Stefan Pichler stressed that these decisions are aimed at the safety of travelers, which Royal Jordanian places at the top of its priorities, and in light of the increasing numbers of infections with Coronavirus in Italy and some Asian countries. He added that RJ takes all possible measures to help Jordan stay virus free.
Pichler said that Royal Jordanian applies in this regard all the instructions issued by the Jordanian authorities and by international organizations related to the procedures of transportation from some countries to the Kingdom.
He pointed out that the company is closely monitoring the developments related to the virus at the stations served by its planes, stressing the readiness of the airline to implement further measures during the coming period if necessary.
RJ is currently taking precautionary procedures to protect crew members, front-line staff and travelers, to ensure their safety.
