Post-flight tiredness, loss of concentration and sleep disturbances compose what is typically known as jetlag. Most people who travel on very long flights, especially east-bound journeys, experience this to some degree.
To help minimize the discomfort of jetlag, try these simple tips:
- Get plenty of rest and sleep before your flight.
- Trick your own inner clock by setting your watch to the correct time in your country of destination as soon as you board the plane.
- On Eastbound flights try to sleep (but avoid taking sleeping pills and tranquilizers).
- On Westbound flights try to stay awake.
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
- Upon arrival at your destination, take a brisk walk and spend as much time as possible in the open air.
